Cat Mail Co. gives little tutorial help, which was the main complaint in the lower reviews. This guide pieces together the routine from the store page and from what NoobFeed, Gaming Age and DualShockers each described after playing, noting where they differ. Because nothing is timed, you can learn at your own pace; the goal is to stop parcels coming back. Buying questions are on the FAQ page, and night mechanics and special rooms on the night shift page.
1 The shape of a day
Gaming Age describes the day as dawn, day, dusk and night, with no penalties tied to time. DualShockers says the boat captain visits twice a day, and Gaming Age places those visits at dawn and dusk: the captain delivers incoming parcels and takes the outbound ones.
| Phase | What to focus on |
|---|---|
| Dawn | Unload the boat and load what is ready to leave |
| Day | Process parcels, serve customers, organize storage |
| Dusk | Second boat visit; load the outgoing boat |
| Night | Moonlight reveals hidden properties on some parcels |
The store calls the experience pre-crastination: preparing ahead so the next wave flows. In practice, use the quiet stretch of the day to get parcels fully ready so the boat visits are just loading.
2 Handling a parcel, step by step
NoobFeed laid out the fullest version of the routine. Early on some tools are not unlocked yet, so skip steps you do not have.
Pick up the parcel, switch to stamp mode and press the destination sticker on the correct place on the map.
Put it on the scale and apply between two and six weight stamps, following the color indication.
Run it through the X-ray scanner once unlocked, and add fragile or heavy stickers if it is flagged.
Decorative stamps are optional, but they count toward achievements.
Shelve it until the boat comes, then load it for its destination.
NoobFeed noted that labels do not always show names clearly and some refuse to align neatly, so double-check the destination before shelving.
3 Fragile, heavy and letters
These rules come from NoobFeed. The achievement list confirms that identifying special parcels correctly matters: Heave Ho and Be careful reward correctly identified heavy and fragile parcels, and more types appear later, covered on the night shift page.
4 Check the returns
5 Reading customer hints
Customers at the counter do not hand you a tracking number. Gaming Age explains that they describe what they are waiting for with hints such as a recipient name or clues about origin, giving the example of claw marks pointing to a crocodile sender. NoobFeed found that matching clues becomes a slog once storage fills up, and DualShockers felt some hints were misleading.
That is the strongest argument for organizing storage by a rule you can remember, such as by destination or by sender, so a hint narrows the search to one shelf. There is no timer, so taking a moment to search is fine.
6 Storage, points and unlocks
DualShockers notes you can use the shelves in every room exactly how you want. Work earns points, and the end of each day shows scores by category, according to Gaming Age. Points and good performance unlock rooms on the sides of the building, new devices, delivery routes and stamps.
7 Splitting jobs in co-op
| Players | A split that follows the routine |
|---|---|
| 2 | One weighs and labels; one stores, serves customers and loads the boat |
| 3 | Scale, stamps and labels, dock (the split NoobFeed saw happen naturally) |
| 4 | Add a counter player who handles customer hints and the returns pen |
Each day runs dawn, day, dusk and night, with the boat arriving at dawn and dusk. Handle parcels by setting the destination, weighing and applying two to six weight stamps, inspecting and flagging fragile or heavy boxes, then shelving or shipping. Keep heavy boxes at the bottom and fragile ones on top, check the returns pen between boats, organize storage so customer hints lead to one shelf, and split the scale, stamps and dock between players in co-op.
