1 Searching is the actual game

The instruction from the developers is to explore every hidden corner and gather useful items. In a game with no combat and no timers, that is not preparation for the game. It is the game.

The habit that helps most is treating each screen as a picture to be finished rather than a place to pass through. Sweep it deliberately: edges, behind objects, anywhere the hand crafted art has put detail.

Nothing punishes you for taking a long time over it, and nothing rewards moving on early.

2 Being stuck means you missed a screen

The path is designed never to leave you lost
The developers describe a wonderfully focused adventure that never leaves you feeling lost, where gathering and helping fit together like a relaxing puzzle. So when progress stops, the cause is almost always an unsearched location rather than a puzzle you failed.

The productive response is to go back to the most recently opened area and search it again, rather than staring at the quest that will not advance. In a game with gentle logic, the missing piece is usually something you walked past.

3 Collect before you need it

Packing your backpack wisely is called out as part of the design, and everything you hand to someone in need came from somewhere earlier.

Because there is no failure state, over collecting costs nothing but a little time. Under collecting costs a walk back. When the choice is take it or leave it, take it.

Trading with locals also runs on what you carry, so a full backpack is a wider set of options rather than clutter.

4 Talk to everyone, twice

Helping people is the engine of progression here, and requests come from conversations. A person who had nothing to say before you found an item may have something to say afterwards.

Since conversation costs a single click and there is no penalty for anything, revisiting people after each discovery is close to free. It is also where the warmth of the game lives, which is most of what you came for.

5 Play it the way it was designed

This is the unusual advice, and it is the most important one. The developers describe pausing to pour a cup of tea, and a world that moves forward solely through your actions.

1
Do not look up a walkthrough on the first stall. The search is the content you paid for.
2
Play in short sessions. Save anytime is supported and the story loses nothing by being spread out.
3
Try it on a phone or tablet through Remote Play. Touch only control suits this design well.
4
If you are unsure whether the pace suits you, the free demo answers it faster than any review.

A game built as a mental reset is easy to play wrongly by rushing it. The only way to lose here is to treat it as something to finish.

Summary

Searching each screen thoroughly is the game rather than preparation for it. When progress stops, the cause is almost always a location you did not search rather than a puzzle you failed, so go back rather than staring at the quest. Take every item you are offered, since over collecting costs only time and there is no failure state. Revisit people after each discovery, and let the pace stay slow, because the only way to lose is to treat it as something to finish.
