Wildgate FAQ
A crewed spaceship shooter with three modes, no single player entry, and an accessibility list worth reading.

1 What is Wildgate

Moonshot Games describes it as a PvPvE multiplayer shooter with three different modes, published by Dreamhaven. The distinguishing feature is that you are not only a character: you and your crew share a ship, and that ship is described as your home and lifeline.

You keep it topped up with ice, fuel and ammo, attack with cannons and gadgets, lay traps, and interfere with rival ships, all while the map itself is trying to kill you.

2 Can you play it alone

This is the most important thing to check before buying, and the answer is in what the store does not list.

There is no single player entry at all
The categories list multi-player, PvP, online PvP, co-op, online co-op and cross platform multiplayer. Single-player is absent, and a broadband connection appears in both requirement tiers. Treat this as an online only game.

If you were hoping for a campaign or offline practice, this is not that product. What it offers instead is a game that only works when several people are aboard the same ship.

3 The three modes

ModeObjective
Artifact BrawlBe first to grab the Artifact and blast through the Wildgate, or destroy every rival crew instead
Fleet BattleTwo large teams of up to 12 players each, in sustained combat
Treasure HuntA more relaxed looting expedition. Salvage treasure and escape before you are blown up

Those three are genuinely different experiences rather than rule variants. Treasure Hunt is described by the developer as the relaxed option, which makes it the sensible place to learn the ship.

4 What PvPvE means here

You are fighting other crews and the environment at the same time. The Reach is a vast, procedurally generated map that changes every game, filled with cosmic storms, space creatures and ancient alien ruins holding lost caches of loot.

That combination is what makes the mode selection matter. A crew that spends the whole match fighting players will lose to one that used the environment, and a crew that ignores rivals entirely will be caught mid salvage.

You choose from a variety of prospectors, each with their own abilities and tools, so how you contribute is a decision made before the match as well as during it.

5 Price and in-app purchases

The list price is USD 29.99, and it has been discounted heavily since launch, so check the store before assuming either figure. The store also lists In-App Purchases as a feature.

As with any paid multiplayer game that also sells items, read the current store description if that model matters to you. What is sold changes over time and is not something to take on trust from a guide.

6 Platform, languages and cross play

Full controller support, DualSense support, HDR and surround sound are all listed. For an online shooter, the breadth of the language support is a good sign about the size of the intended player base.

7 Accessibility features

This is one of the more thorough lists on any multiplayer shooter store page, and two entries stand out for a game built on crew communication.

  1. Chat speech-to-text and chat text-to-speech, so a crew can coordinate without everyone using a microphone.
  2. Adjustable text size, colour alternatives and subtitle options.

Speech-to-text in particular changes who can play this game properly, because a crewed ship game normally punishes anyone who cannot talk in real time.

8 System requirements

The minimum is Windows 10 or 11, a Core i5-4440 or Ryzen 5 1600, 8 GB of memory and a GTX 1050 Ti, RX 570 or Arc A380, DirectX 12, broadband and 9 GB of storage.

The recommended tier asks for a Core i7-9700K or Ryzen 7 3700X with 16 GB of memory. Its graphics line reads Nvidia GeForce GTX 2070, which is not a card that exists. Read it as the RTX 2070 or the AMD RX 5700 XT listed beside it, but we are quoting the page rather than correcting it.

Summary

A PvPvE crewed spaceship shooter across three modes: Artifact Brawl, Fleet Battle with up to 12 players a side, and the more relaxed Treasure Hunt. Your ship needs ice, fuel and ammo, and the procedurally generated Reach fights you alongside rival crews. There is no single player entry and broadband is required, so treat it as online only. Listed at USD 29.99 with In-App Purchases, cross platform play, 28 achievements, and an unusually complete accessibility list including chat speech-to-text.
