The base adventure, character outfits and Mayhem expansion have different scopes. This FAQ answers the practical questions about playable heroes, local cooperation, internet requirements and optional content using the official game FAQ and current release announcements.
- Who is playable in the base game?
- Can two players cooperate online?
- Is an internet connection required for the adventure?
- What is included in Standard versus optional collections?
- Does the game have real-money microtransactions?
- Are Joker and Harley Quinn base-game playable heroes?
- Must I buy a physical LEGO set to drive a Batmobile?
- What does the Absolute Mode announcement establish?
1. Who is playable in the base game?
The official FAQ lists Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Catwoman and Talia al Ghul. These seven characters have different skills, progression trees, combos and gadgets. Do not infer an expanded playable roster from the number of costumes advertised for the game. A suit changes the appearance of a supported character; it does not by itself add the separate character and move set shown in an optional expansion. Confirm whether an item is a playable role or an outfit before using a roster guide.

2. Can two players cooperate online?
The official FAQ supports two-player local co-op and explicitly says there is no online co-op. The adventure can also be played alone. Plan a shared local session around that scope rather than inviting another player to a native online lobby the FAQ does not provide. This distinction concerns the game’s own cooperation mode. It does not establish cross-platform progression or save transfer, so those promises should not be inferred from the list of supported stores and consoles.

3. Is an internet connection required for the adventure?
The FAQ says an internet connection is not required to play, but is needed to download updates. Keep those cases separate: offline play does not mean an installation automatically contains every later correction or expansion release. Check that the desired update and owned content are installed before starting an offline session. The FAQ does not guarantee that unrelated account-linked promotions or downloads can be claimed without a connection; base adventure access and retrieving optional rewards are different questions.

4. What is included in Standard versus optional collections?
Standard contains the main adventure with its base playable characters. The FAQ describes 100 suits and outfits, more than 20 vehicles and more than 250 Batcave items and trophies in that scope. Legacy Collection adds themed cosmetic content, while Mayhem Collection has a new Story Mission, mode and playable villains. Check the named collection in your owned package. A high outfit count is not a count of distinct heroes, and the base game’s content should not be confused with every later optional add-on.

5. Does the game have real-money microtransactions?
The official FAQ says there are no in-game microtransactions. Optional DLC packages still exist, so that answer should not be expanded into a claim that all additional content is free. Distinguish the base game, an owned Deluxe package and any separate upgrade before choosing a guide for a specific mode. At this check the regular US Steam price for the base game is $69.99. A sale, another region or a different edition can have another price and does not change what the package includes.

6. Are Joker and Harley Quinn base-game playable heroes?
The released Mayhem Collection introduces playable Joker and Harley Quinn with an Arkham Asylum escape Story Mission and Mayhem Mode. This is a separate scope from the seven-character base roster. The Sinister Pack contains outfits for the base characters and other themed items; those outfits should not be mistaken for the playable villain roles in Mayhem content. Read the item description and ownership rather than treating every villain-themed costume as an additional character slot.

7. Must I buy a physical LEGO set to drive a Batmobile?
The FAQ distinguishes exclusive gold-themed bonuses associated with selected physical sets from standard vehicle versions that can be earned in the game. Owning the physical set is therefore not the stated requirement for every ordinary version of its vehicle. Check the exact variant named in a reward offer before assuming a normal traversal vehicle is missing from the base adventure. This answer describes the FAQ’s distinction; it does not promise that every cosmetic variant shares the same unlock route.

8. What does the Absolute Mode announcement establish?
The September announcement explicitly says Absolute Difficulty Mode is available. Its short text also mentions the new Mayhem Collection. That wording does not explain a precise unlock condition or establish that buying the collection is required to access Absolute. Use the current difficulty menu and a fuller official instruction when checking access. This FAQ does not turn the shared announcement into an unsupported ownership rule, damage multiplier or mandatory completion requirement. Availability is confirmed; detailed access conditions are not supplied by that notice.

| Content type | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Base character | One of the 7 playable roles |
| Outfit / vehicle / Batcave item | Appearance or collection item; inspect variant |
| Mayhem Collection | Separate mission, mode and playable villains |
Check the exact edition, content name and installed update. For cooperation, prepare two local players rather than expecting native online co-op.

The base game has seven playable characters, solo play and two-player local cooperation. Updates need internet, optional DLC remains separate, and cosmetics should not be counted as new playable roles.
