Upgrade and Progression Tips
Idle Lumberjack 2 is decided by upgrade order more than play time. Here is how to think about cash, sections, and offline gains.

1Damage first, every time

Until each tree falls in one or two swings, damage is the highest-value upgrade. More swings per tree means less wood per minute; nothing else matters until that ratio is clean.

2Speed second, capacity third

Once damage is comfortable, your bottleneck shifts to how fast you can move between trees. Movement speed upgrade fixes that. Carrying capacity is third because storage runs out only when you are not selling fast enough.

3Take every golden tree you can see

Bonuses from golden trees compound. Detouring for one is almost always worth more than the wood you would have chopped on the straight path. They are not a small bonus; they are the main bonus.

4Push deeper instead of grinding shallow

Sections you have already cleared pay less than the next section. Use cash to upgrade, then push forward. Idling on a shallow section to stockpile cash is the slowest way to play.

Common mistakes
  • Upgrading movement speed before damage.
  • Skipping golden trees because of detour distance.
  • Grinding the same shallow section after upgrades.
  • Spending cash on cosmetic skins early.
  • Forgetting to claim offline gains on return.
Best practices
  • Damage upgrade until trees fall in one or two swings.
  • Movement speed once damage is comfortable.
  • Always grab visible golden trees.
  • Push to deeper sections after every upgrade tier.
  • Claim offline gains whenever you reopen the game.
