Map routes, the expanded shop, letter progression and current quest conditions.
Read both the card and the battlefield
The game joins a deck-building run to automatic unit combat. That still leaves decisions about which cards you play, targets and placement. For example, the August update describes Phantom Spear targeting an enemy, Militia Barracks designating a summon tile, and a clone effect triggered by using a card outside your deck. Begin by reading what the current hand actually does. Treat the unit combat as feedback on those choices instead of assuming the only decision that matters was the last reward screen.
Use route highlighting before committing
Since the 1 August 2025 update, left-clicking a node on the world map highlights that node and the routes that reach it. Use that display to inspect a potential destination before choosing the next step. It is especially useful when planning for an event or comparing alternatives. Highlighting a node is an information tool; the announcement does not say it teleports the army, removes route restrictions or guarantees a particular reward. Build the route around the current map rather than a remembered sequence of event locations.
Look through all eight shop cards
The same update increased shop card items from four to eight. The arrow on the right of the card list scrolls between pages. If you check only the first visible page, you can miss options that already exist in that visit. Compare the full selection with the cards and relics you own before spending. This is a practical reason to inspect the interface, not a recommendation to buy every card. A specific effect that fills a gap is more useful information than a blanket rule to keep the deck as small as possible.
Separate normal progression from Final Chapter access
The August rework changed how the Final Chapter becomes available because the previous system restricted route choices. The Tower of Ancient Wisdom event now spans a whole column, allowing access regardless of route without needing one particular return-letter node. That removes a routing bottleneck, but it does not say the Final Chapter has no conditions. If you are working toward it, track the required letter as a separate objective and read the current event choice rather than relying on a pre-update route.
Track the current letter options
In the Prologue and Midlogue, three Torn Letter Scrap cards craft a Letter to Deliver. Scraps can come from defeating a Letter-Eating Spirit in random world-map battles or from the Wacky Works Lab event. The completed letter can also appear in shops with low probability. The previous event that guarantees the letter remains somewhere in the prologue, but is no longer marked on the world map. The practical consequence is that an absent event icon does not prove the guaranteed event was removed. This paragraph reveals progression requirements without describing the final battle.
Read quest conditions rather than old checklists
The 1 August update reduced the Deus Ex Machina quest requirement from four to three Machine summon cards in the deck. It also added Magic School, requiring 20 spell summon card uses for a Phantom Spear reward, and Divine Legacy, requiring three spell summon cards in the deck for Kindlet. These are different tests: using cards repeatedly is not the same as holding a set number in the deck. Read the condition of the quest you actually have before adding cards solely to satisfy an outdated count.
Choose when to try Ember and Endless Dream
The 22 August update added Ember Enhancement that places a desired card in the deck at the start of a game. The developer describes its point cost as substantial and comparable with late-game levels, so it is not a free starter tool for every new profile. Endless Dream is likewise a distinct option on the results screen after a game ends. Its enemy commander heals fully each turn and cannot be killed. Use it to inspect a developed deck, and remember that the later patch starts stronger patterns at turn 20 rather than the original turn 30.
