1 Your choices affect other people
GSC states it directly: your choices will influence the destinies of those you encounter and shape your own survival. That is a different promise from multiple endings for the player.
The people you help, ignore or fail are tracked. Whether someone survives to appear at the end is frequently a consequence of a job you took or did not take hours earlier, which is why side content matters more here than in most shooters.
2 Side stories are the main content
The description promises colourful characters, memorable side stories and the spirit of true freedom. In practice the investigation that frames the game is short, and the hours around it are what people remember.
Treat the main objective as a thread to pull when you have run out of other things to do, rather than as a checklist to rush. Advancing it too fast is the most common way players finish this game wondering what everyone else was talking about.
3 Artifact hunting as a business
Artifacts are light, valuable and found in the places that kill you. That combination makes them the most efficient income in the game once you can survive collecting them.
| Habit | Why |
|---|---|
| Work an anomaly field slowly | Rushing one is how a profitable trip becomes a reload |
| Wear artifacts that fix a weakness | Carrying capacity and resistances are worth more than raw numbers |
| Sell the ones you cannot use | They fund the suit and weapon repairs that keep you alive |
Many artifacts emit radiation while carried. Pair them with something that counteracts it, or take them off between fields, rather than paying for the exposure in medicine.
4 Handling the Chimera
Described as a stealthy alpha predator, and it behaves like one: it closes distance fast and it does not give up.
Two things help. Fight it somewhere it cannot circle you, such as a doorway or against a wall, and do not try to outrun it in the open. If you meet one while lightly equipped, the correct decision is usually to break line of sight and leave the area rather than to spend your whole supply of ammunition on it.
5 Handling the Burer
The Burer uses telekinesis, and GSC says it turns shadowed undergrounds into a nightmare. An enemy that can interfere with you at range rather than simply damaging you demands a different response.
6 Surviving an emission
When the warning starts, the only correct action is to move toward the nearest enclosed shelter and stay there until it passes. Finishing what you were doing is not an option worth considering.
There is a benefit hidden in this. Emissions affect everything in the Zone, so the aftermath is a good time to travel and to look at where things died. A player who sheltered properly comes out into a quieter and more profitable landscape than the one they went in from.
7 The 47 achievements
Forty seven entries on a game built around side stories and reputation will include a substantial number tied to how those stories resolved, which means some are decided long before you knew they existed.
Play the first run without the list. Help people, take the optional work, and see where it goes. Then read the list and use it to plan a second run, which is far more efficient than trying to satisfy it blind.
8 Mistakes that cost you the ending
| Mistake | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Rushing the main objective | The side stories that decide other characters fates never happen |
| Refusing optional work | It is the income, the equipment and the narrative all at once |
| Travelling far from shelter | An emission you cannot reach cover from ends the attempt |
| Entering the underground unprepared | No resupply, poor visibility, and an enemy built for that space |
| Wearing every artifact permanently | The radiation quietly costs more than the artifacts earned |
Your decisions shape what happens to the people around you, and the side stories are where the game actually lives, so do not rush the investigation. Hunt artifacts patiently as your main income, pairing them so radiation does not eat the profit. Fight the Chimera somewhere it cannot circle you and never duel a Burer at mid range in the open. When an emission warning starts, drop everything and get inside, then use the quieter aftermath to travel.
