Shells are the heart of Mortal Shell II. The store describes the forgotten Shells of eight lost warriors scattered through the world, each with innate abilities and a story told through memories. Shell names below match the official achievement list. Ability descriptions and the ranking come from GameRant, so treat the ranking as one outlet's opinion. Achievement conditions are from the official Steam list, where 16 of the 53 are hidden.

2 Bonding, Glimpses and memories
You strengthen a Shell by bonding with it at the Shellkeeper, spending Glimpses. GameRant describes four bond tiers, with the fourth costing 30 Glimpses for a Shell such as Sariel. Higher tiers unlock upgrades and better core stats, and GamingBolt adds that bonding also reveals more of each Shell's story.
| Achievement | Condition |
|---|---|
| Decked Out | Reach the maximum bonding tier for a Shell at the Shellkeeper |
| Haunting Times | Watch your first Shell Memory |
| Seeking the Past | Watch all Shell Memories |
| Shell Seeker | Unlock all Shells |
3 Which Shells to invest in
Glimpses are limited, so investment is the real decision. Guides estimate enough for two or three fully bonded Shells per run.
| GameRant tier | Shells |
|---|---|
| S | Genessa, Tiel, Smert |
| A | Eredrim, Gragu, Proxima |
| B | Sariel |
| C | Lazlo |
4 Night Mode and the Slayer Seal
In Fainweald, head down from the Widow's Overlook beacon to a graveyard guarded by the Great Arbiter of Flesh.
At the Marrow Keep, this switches Night Mode on.
Enemies gain much more health but drop more Gloom, and some encounters, merchants and secrets change.

6 Planning for No Lifer
Over 9000 needs a fully upgraded weapon, so commit materials to one favorite rather than spreading them. Stoned asks for every Tarstone out of more than seventy, which is the longest collection task; Kotaku notes that boss Tarstones point to nearby weapons, so collecting both together saves backtracking.
Mortal Shell II has eight Shells: Tiel, Proxima, Eredrim, Smert, Genessa, Gragu, Sariel and Lazlo. Bonding at the Shellkeeper costs scarce Glimpses, so focus on two or three, starting with Tiel or Proxima. Night Mode raises difficulty and Gloom rewards, while the Slayer Seal makes fights easier but disables achievements. Of the 53 achievements, 16 are hidden; the rest are mostly unlocks and collections, with every Tarstone and a fully upgraded weapon among the longest.
