Invincible VS is a three-versus-three tag fighting game based on the Invincible comics and animated series. It is the debut title of Quarter Up, the first in-house studio at Skybound, which the store describes as led by former members of the core Killer Instinct (2013) team. It launched on 30 April 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and Windows, and Wikipedia notes arcade versions as well. This page covers the questions to settle before buying. For how the fighting works, see the beginner guide, and for the roster, modes and achievements, see the roster page.
1 What kind of fighting game is it
A team fighter. You pick three characters and swap between them during a match, much like the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 style that Noisy Pixel compares it to. Wikipedia describes active tags for switching characters in the middle of a combo and counter tags for escaping an opponent combo. The store promises fast combat, smart defensive tactics, and Super moves and Ultimates.
2 Is it friendly to newcomers
More than most tag fighters. Noisy Pixel explains that each character has a dedicated button for signature offense, and super moves use simple command inputs with more emphasis on precise timing. It found the learning curve accessible, with a training mode that covers the basics and some advanced techniques. The Koalition adds that there is an extensive tutorial.
3 Who is on the roster
Eighteen characters at launch, under what reviewers call Season 0. The Koalition lists them as Invincible, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Bulletproof, Omni-Man, Monster Girl, Robot, Cecil, Dupli-Kate, Titan, Ella Mental, Allen the Alien, Battle Beast, Anissa, Lucan, Thula, Powerplex and Conquest. Wikipedia notes that Ella Mental is a new character voiced by Tierra Whack.
Four more fighters are planned as downloadable content. Both Wikipedia and The Koalition name Universa and The Immortal, and Wikipedia also lists Angstrom Levy. Noisy Pixel felt that 18 is a small roster for a game where each side fields three, since combinations and matchups repeat sooner than in a one-on-one fighter.
4 What modes are included
| Mode | What you get |
|---|---|
| Story | A cinematic campaign with an original story from a writer of the animated series; The Koalition says it lasts a few hours |
| Arcade | Pick a team and climb a ladder; finishing unlocks character endings |
| Training and tutorial | Basics and some advanced techniques |
| Versus | Local play, plus casual and ranked online with leaderboards |
Noisy Pixel criticized how thin the offering is beyond story and versus, and The Koalition found the story ending unsatisfying, though it expects future content to build on it.
5 What critics and players said
| Source | Result |
|---|---|
| Metacritic | 76 on PS5, 72 on PC (per Wikipedia) |
| OpenCritic | 71% of critics recommend it |
| Individual reviews | Game Informer 8.5, Noisy Pixel 8, The Koalition 4 out of 5, Destructoid 6 |
| Steam users | Mostly Positive, 2,640 of 3,454 reviews positive (15 September 2026) |
The praise centers on how distinct each fighter feels and the balance between casual and competitive play. The criticism is about quantity rather than quality: a small launch roster and few modes.
6 Content notice
The store lists a required age of 17, and the developer notice says fighting is violent, bloody and gory. That matches the source material. This guide does not describe violent scenes in detail.
7 Price, languages and requirements
| Item | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Core i5-9600KF / Ryzen 5 2600X | Core i7-12700K / Ryzen 7 7700 |
| Memory | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| GPU | RTX 2070 / RX 7800, 8 GB | RTX 3070 / RX 6800, 8 GB |
| Other | Windows 10, DirectX 12, 15 GB | Windows 11, DirectX 12, 25 GB |
The list price is USD 49.99, with a Digital Deluxe Edition also sold, and the store lists 15 add-on items. Six languages are supported, with full audio in English only. A gamepad is recommended. The minimum requirements are high for a fighting game, so compare your graphics card with the RTX 2070 line before buying. The minimum GPU line pairs an RTX 2070 with an RX 7800, which are not equivalent cards; that is how the store lists it.
Invincible VS is a 3v3 tag fighter from Quarter Up, a Skybound studio led by former Killer Instinct developers, at a list price of USD 49.99. It launched with 18 characters and four more planned as DLC, plus story, arcade, training and online modes with rollback netcode. Simple inputs make it approachable, though critics wanted more characters and modes; Metacritic scores sit in the low to mid 70s. It is violent and gory, and the PC requirements start at an RTX 2070 and 16 GB of memory.
