Leaf it Alone FAQ: Saves, Controls & 1.1 Preview

Leaf it Alone is a single-player leaf-cleaning game with tool upgrades, a journal and completion objectives. Its recent development posts preview a larger update, while the current released patches address saves, controls and missing leaves. This FAQ separates what you can use now from the October 30 anniversary update.

Version scope: released 1.0 patches through 1.0.16. The 1.1 update is announced for October 30, 2026; Custom Mode, new maps and the new timer are previewed features at this October 13 source check.

1. Is the 1.1 update already available?

The July release-date devlog explicitly describes itself as a preview, and schedules 1.1 for October 30, 2026. At the October 13 source check, that date is still ahead. New maps, Custom Mode, input rebinding and the in-game timer belong to those previews. Use applied 1.0 patch notes when you need a setting or progression rule today. A development post explaining how something will work is not evidence that the corresponding button is already in your installed game.

2. Is this a co-op game or a competitive multiplayer game?

Steam lists single-player, achievements, Cloud saves and leaderboards. The leaderboard is a way to compare recorded results; it does not mean that friends can join your yard to rake together. Choose the game for its individual cleaning and upgrade loop rather than expecting a shared session. The US regular base price is $5.99 at this source check. Bundles, sales and regional prices can differ, so check the actual Steam package and currency before buying.

3. Does the current game support a controller?

The game supports controllers, and applied patches address practical input problems. Version 1.0.12 separates controller rotation sensitivity from frame rate; 1.0.14 removes stick noise and drift affecting input switching; 1.0.16 corrects reversed swing controls. These changes explain why an old video or report may differ from a current session. Consult the prompts for your selected device and update before working around one of those faults. The fuller rebinding interface shown in the 1.1 devlog remains a planned feature.

4. What is available for camera comfort now?

Released patch 1.0.14 adds Motion Comfort in Settings, reducing sprint-related field-of-view changes and disabling head bobbing. Invert Y Axis was added in 1.0.7. Try the relevant option when adjusting how movement and looking feel, rather than confusing it with the unreleased input-rebinding screen. Set them to match your preferred camera movement and vertical look direction. Check your own display and controls before following a screenshot from an older version.

5. How many save slots are available?

Version 1.0.10 blocks New Game when all ten save slots are occupied. A blocked new-game action can therefore be a capacity issue rather than a crash or a requirement to finish the current map. Inspect the saves before deleting anything you want to retain. Patch 1.0.15 also fixes Open Saves Folder so it opens the correct location. The redesigned load menu that shows map and mode is described in the 1.1 preview and should not be assumed to exist in the current release.

6. What if some leaves disappear after saving?

Patch 1.0.12 fixes a rare save-corruption problem when saving during leaf-inlet use and adds a validator to restore saves affected by that specific bug. Version 1.0.14 also prevents leaves disappearing when quitting, and subsequent collider fixes address leaves appearing underground or in unreachable places. Update and inspect the current situation before discarding a save. These notes support checking known corrections, not a promise that every damaged file or every remaining completion problem will be recovered automatically.

7. Are the journal and leaderboard showing the same objective?

The journal tracks progression and objectives, while Rankings contains different result tabs. Version 1.0.12 fixes the Objectives tab refreshing the wrong list and aligns the final time between Summary and Rankings. Version 1.0.14 adds the number of completed objectives to the journal and adjusts when certain objectives begin counting. Check the selected panel and objective before treating a different number as lost progress. A completion total, a cleaning target and a ranked time answer different questions.

8. What does the Custom Mode preview promise?

The 1.1 devlog describes configurable starting money, income, tools, upgrades and area access. It also describes an exception for default-settings ranked runs that retain achievements and leaderboard eligibility, while modified runs do not unlock achievements. Those are future rules at this check. They help explain why a planned custom run will differ from normal progression, but they do not authorize bypassing current map unlocks or tell you to find a Ranked toggle in the released 1.0 menus.

Key points

Use current save, journal and comfort options, and treat the leaderboard as single-player result comparison. Keep the October 30 Custom Mode and map previews separate from actions available in the released 1.0 game.
