Choose a game mode and content scope before planning your first Jurassic World park. Campaign progression, a timed challenge and a customized sandbox ask for different decisions. This FAQ covers those distinctions, the family system and the difference between free updates and optional purchases.

1. Which mode should a new park manager choose?
The official quickstart recommends Campaign because it introduces the mechanics gradually. The campaign moves between international locations and uses the Dinosaur Integration Network to structure its scenarios. Start there if you want guided exposure to park operations before a custom build. Sandbox lets you set your own conditions, while Challenge Mode adds time pressure. A park budget or unlock expectation from one mode should not be treated as a rule for all three.

2. Is Sandbox simply the campaign without a story?
Sandbox offers extensive settings so you can build freely or impose your own difficulty. It also includes the Island Generator for custom maps. Decide which restrictions you want before using a budget or progression guide: a creative park with relaxed conditions is a different problem from a constrained scenario. Sharing an island layout does not by itself describe the settings used to manage it. The generator and its code reproduce terrain choices, not a universal campaign route.

3. What does Challenge Mode measure?
The official description presents timed scenarios with completion targets and difficulty choices. Finishing a scenario awards unique scenery usable in other modes. This makes Challenge Mode suitable for testing an understood park routine, rather than learning every new system while chasing an arbitrary speed record. Read the particular scenario and its conditions before copying a completion time from another run. A visually elaborate sandbox is not automatically evidence that its layout will meet a timed challenge efficiently.

4. Can every prehistoric species form a breeding family?
The launch description specifies more than 85 species, with family management for 75 of them. It therefore does not support assuming that every animal uses identical male, female and juvenile mechanics. Later free updates add returning family units, including Dracorex and Liopleurodon in 1.2.8. Check the species available in your current content and its own needs before building around reproduction. The launch count is a dated scope, not a current total including every expansion.

5. Do I need the Deluxe Edition to build a functional park?
The standard game includes the core management, family and creative systems. The Deluxe Edition adds four species families: Protoceratops, Guanlong, Thanatosdrakon and Concavenator, alongside listed cosmetic content. The US regular base price is $59.99 at this check; regional prices and bundles vary. Read the package you are buying rather than assuming a guide featuring one Deluxe animal establishes a standard-game requirement. A free patch and ownership of those extra species are separate matters.

6. Are Walkways part of the paid Prehistoric East pack?
The update announcement identifies the Walkway Attraction as free Update 1.5 content, while Prehistoric East is a separate species pack. The later 1.5.3 notes fix a danger-to-guests warning when a walkway entrance is placed on a fence, along with camera and visual problems. Update before treating that corrected warning as a permanent attraction rule. Do not infer that every dinosaur in footage shown alongside the update is included with the free attraction.

7. Does the Workshop provide entirely new gameplay buildings?
The official construction guide describes sharing blueprints and visual variants through the Frontier Workshop. Variants can take different amounts of space while keeping their underlying function. Install a blueprint, inspect its building type and attach point, then check whether the layout fits your site. A detailed appearance does not prove additional service capacity or a new management mechanic. The game supports sharing creations across platforms; that feature is distinct from sharing a live park-management session.

8. What should I check when scenery blocks movement?
Construction changes can affect dinosaurs, guests and vehicles differently. The 1.2 update introduces an Obstructions heatmap for movement and makes it available during terrain edits. Use it to inspect the route rather than judging only the appearance of a slope or decorative wall. The 1.3 update also changes aviary navigation around scenery. Compare the installed version and the affected creature or vehicle before assuming an old workaround remains necessary on the current park.

Identify the mode, owned species content and installed patch before following a layout. These three details explain many apparent disagreements between guides.
