Jurassic World Evolution 3 Beginner Guide: First Park

A first park needs working connections and understood management tools before decorative complexity. Use Campaign to learn the systems, build a readable path network and check dinosaur needs as the site grows. This guide turns the official quickstart and construction rules into a practical sequence without inventing a universal opening budget.

Version scope: the released game and official construction guidance, checked October 14, 2026. Free updates and paid species packs are separate; current fixes include 1.5.3.

1. Choose a learning scenario before a grand custom build

Campaign is designed to introduce the different mechanics gradually. Complete the current scenario instructions and use in-game Help when a new tool appears. A large freeform island can be tempting, but it adds layout decisions before you understand the systems that must operate there. This is a suggested learning order, not a claim that Sandbox is locked. Return to Sandbox once you can explain how paths, buildings, dinosaurs and response vehicles interact in your chosen conditions.

2. Connect buildings through their attach points

Most buildings require a path network reaching the Arrival Point or suitable transport before they operate. Inspect the attach point and follow the route all the way back, rather than placing a short decorative path beside the model. A facility can look complete yet lack the connection it needs. Keep the early network readable so a newly placed structure is easy to check. The official rules support verifying connections; they do not prescribe one mandatory street pattern.

3. Watch capacity where several routes converge

Wider paths increase guest capacity and reduce overcrowding. Use the Overcrowding View to find a choke point before rebuilding an entire park. The construction guide notes that space is reserved beside paths for later widening, so consider that future change when decorating nearby. If the bottleneck is one narrow section, correct that section and inspect the result. A wide path elsewhere does not guarantee that all guests can pass through the junction that is actually congested.

4. Separate habitat function from landscape appearance

The Environment menu provides Nature, Water, Feeder, Painting and Terrain tools. Nature and certain marked scenery can supply environmental needs, while Painting changes appearance without changing the Environment need. Inspect the dinosaur requirements before repainting a surface to solve discomfort. A convincing visual biome and a mechanically suitable habitat are different checks. Use the available need information and adjust one functional element at a time, rather than assuming every decorative tree or painted texture contributes equally.

5. Prepare terrain with awareness of automatic adjustment

Path construction has Adjust Terrain enabled by default and can create shallow ramps over uneven ground. Turn it off when you want terrain to remain unchanged, then check that the intended route still works. Flattening, smoothing and ramps are available for construction, but attractive steep slopes do not automatically provide access. Use the Obstructions heatmap to see the movement consequences of a terrain edit before adding more scenery or declaring a vehicle route complete.

6. Keep response operations visible as the park expands

The quickstart identifies operations, scientists, guest needs and emergencies as separate management responsibilities. The game adds security cameras and Maintenance teams to support disaster response. Learn the current prompts for those systems before assuming that building an enclosure makes every incident self-managing. Keep the route to essential facilities understandable and check the movement view if scenery changes access. The cited sources do not establish one guaranteed camera layout or a fixed response time for every species.

7. Add a custom layout only after confirming its requirements

A custom building starts with its Structure, followed by any required nearby Modules. Extra Modules beyond the requirements do not add benefits. Check those requirements before duplicating a decorative build across the park. A Workshop variant can also occupy a different footprint from the familiar preset, even when its function is unchanged. Preview it against paths and terrain, then verify the same connections you would check for a standard building. Appearance alone is not an operational test.

8. Finish the session with one measurable park improvement

Check the scenario task, a building connection, a habitat need or the congested route you intended to change. Make a small correction and observe that specific result before starting another major project. This review method follows the official separation of construction and management responsibilities without claiming an optimal spending order. When a problem matches a patch note, update and test again: 1.5.3 includes a corrected walkway warning, so not every old warning proves a lasting design fault.

Before replacing a layout, name the failed requirement: connection, capacity, habitat need or movement. Change the part that addresses that requirement.

Key points

Build a clear connected network, use actual habitat needs and inspect movement after terrain edits. Confirm custom building modules and judge an improvement by a specific operational result.
