Definitive Edition adds a larger map, revised diplomacy and new tools to the original strategy game. Its patches also change rebellion conditions and budget behavior. This FAQ separates the current edition, scenarios, multiplayer scope and the newer reserve and editor systems.

1. Is Definitive Edition interchangeable with the original?
The store lists an expanded map, additional civilizations and scenarios, revised diplomacy and quality-of-life changes. Use advice for the edition you installed, especially when a diplomacy button or budget feature does not match an old screenshot. The US regular price is $9.99 at this source check. A dated owner discount announcement is not a promise about the current checkout price. Scenario and mod choices also matter: the same edition can contain different settings and content across separate campaigns.

2. Does the game require an online session for multiplayer?
The store identifies hotseat multiplayer, allowing multiple players to take roles within the game. That label does not establish a separate real-time online matchmaking service or remote synchronized save system. Decide which local civilization each participant controls and use the current game setup. Do not import instructions for another Age of History title merely because it advertises an online mode. This guide describes the listed scope rather than guessing at an undocumented server or player-account requirement.

3. What currently allows a revolution to begin?
The August balance notice requires at least one province with Revolutionary Risk above 60% before revolutions can begin. This is later than the June rebellion rework. Treat the threshold as a starting condition, not a guarantee that an uprising fires immediately on the next turn. The overview and earlier notes do not establish one exact timeline for every scenario. Check the current risk display and any mod settings before using an older description to diagnose the result.

4. Where is the National Bank reserve?
The May update adds a constructed National Bank with reserves separate from the treasury. You access it through Civilization Decisions or Budget. Deposited gold is protected from inflation but is not automatically withdrawn when treasury gold becomes negative. Inspect both balances before concluding that funds disappeared or that the reserve will cover spending on its own. This is an in-game accounting distinction; the actual build availability also depends on its province, technology and construction requirements.

5. Why did some diplomacy actions move?
The May notes remove several buttons from the diplomacy menu, while Send Volunteer Army is accessed through the army menu. The same update changes foreign investment restrictions and adds other interface tools. Check the current action location before deciding a missing old button is an unsupported feature. A store overview lists broad capabilities, but an applied interface change can specify how to reach them now. Read the selected province state as well as the menu label.

6. Can I choose a released vassal government?
The July update lets you choose a government type before releasing a civilization as a vassal. Read that selection before confirming the action; do not assume the government is forced to match an old default. The same notice adds optional Countryball Eyes for visual status cues, disabled by default. Those expressions help display circumstances but are not a replacement for the diplomacy and province information you need when deciding what to release.

7. Are Workshop scenarios part of the base map specification?
Workshop support lets you add community scenarios and other content. The official spotlight gives examples, but their maps and rules are separate from the base-game listing of 13,892 provinces. A mod guide can therefore describe a civilization, timeline or setting that is absent in an unmodified campaign. Record the selected scenario and active content when asking for help. Do not infer that every spotlighted creation is installed automatically or that all mods are compatible with each other.

8. What should I check if a shortcut moves the wrong force?
The April quality-of-life notice assigns keys for recruiting, moving to the front line, regrouping and cancelling army movement. Later notes display the selected unit count when multiple armies are selected. Confirm the selection and destination before issuing a mass action. An input that registered correctly can still affect an unintended selection. Compare the current build and scenario before treating a result as a strategy rule or using an old single-army selection workaround.

| Current feature | Important distinction |
|---|---|
| Revolution threshold | Necessary gate, not a guaranteed firing time |
| Bank reserves | Manual withdrawal into treasury |
| Community scenario | Separate map and rule scope |
Name the edition, scenario and active mods before comparing rules. For funds, look at treasury and reserves separately; for mass actions, confirm selection first.
