A strong-looking interaction can depend on chain order, stacking rules or a corrected bug. This guide explains how to inspect those parts of a current Pathogenic build using developer text and released patches, without claiming a verified best chain from an unreviewed tutorial video.
- Begin with the actual chain you are testing
- Use additive overcharge as the current baseline
- Avoid counting a global bonus twice
- Inspect the resource produced in the last room
- Match the slot and trait rule to the current version
- Use the latest propagation and ordering corrections
- Keep enemy and saved-state fixes out of the formula
- Compare the unmodified setup when compatibility is unclear
1. Begin with the actual chain you are testing
The official introduction says identical organelles can produce different outcomes when their order changes. Record the components and sequence before comparing a result. Then change the order relevant to the question, rather than replacing several components and attributing everything to one infuser. This is a controlled testing method based on the documented principle. The short written introduction does not establish a full recipe list or every interaction shown in its accompanying video.

2. Use additive overcharge as the current baseline
The balance patch changes overcharge-strength bonuses from slots, plasmids and mutations to add together rather than multiply one another. An older result that compounds those bonuses can therefore be misleading. Read the current affected sources before estimating an interaction. This guide does not derive a universal output formula from the change, because individual effects have their own corrections and the current tooltip remains important for the component you are actually using.

3. Avoid counting a global bonus twice
The same patch makes Lateral Emitter use base attack damage rather than fully buffed damage and corrects Peroxisome explosions reapplying global on-attack bonuses. Separate the base action, inherited effect and later bonus when comparing what changed. A corrected double application is not evidence that every explosion or emitter is unusable. Check the specific function and current result instead of importing an old inflated number into a new purchase or organelle choice.

4. Inspect the resource produced in the last room
Expanding a mitochondria tooltip reveals its overcharge produced in the previous room. That is a concrete observation for a current setup, distinct from a theoretical maximum or another player’s screenshot. Use it to check whether the build supplied what the next effect needed. Patch 1.2.0 also makes named interactions count Recuperative Mitochondria correctly. A resource correction and a chain-order correction may both matter, so name which part you are observing.

5. Match the slot and trait rule to the current version
The balance update disallows applying slot converters to omni slots. The earlier feedback patch also changes Cancerous so the prefix transfers to the newly cloned organelle rather than leaving copies on both. Ephemeral recycling receives a condition based on remaining rooms. These are specific rules, not permission to assume every historical conversion or duplication route still works. Read the current trait and slot before making a build plan around an old workaround.

6. Use the latest propagation and ordering corrections
Patch 1.2.0 corrects Vesicle passing on a charge received from another Vesicle and makes named sibling infusers apply in the right order on one-shot bolts. It also addresses charged-state behavior and binding icons for excitable weapons. Check whether the failure concerns propagation, ordering or the action appearing ready. A visual charged indicator and a successful downstream effect are different observations. The notes do not establish an exact optimal sequence for every combination.

7. Keep enemy and saved-state fixes out of the formula
The latest patch reduces particular Lung enemy health and fixes enemies becoming unkillable at extreme damage values. It also corrects re-armed room hazards and repeated heal-room effects after resume. A result changing after a load or on a particular enemy may therefore concern state rather than your chain’s general output. Reproduce the same situation before changing the whole build. Avoid using a corrected survival or reward bug as the expected current baseline.

8. Compare the unmodified setup when compatibility is unclear
The demo-return update warns that some mods may need changes and recommends removing them from the comparison if crashes follow an update. Preserve relevant progress before experiments and record the version, components and state. The current patches fix many input and rendering problems, but they do not certify arbitrary extensions. A useful build report identifies one reproducible interaction rather than claiming that every mod, chain or device shares the same cause.

| Build check | Evidence to inspect |
|---|---|
| Output unexpectedly high or low | Current stacking and duplicate-bonus correction |
| Downstream effect missing | Order, resource and propagation |
| Result changes after resume | Room/enemy state versus chain behavior |
Record components, order and context. Use the current tooltip and one controlled change before ranking an interaction.
