A run of 33 Immortals can feel overwhelming the first time: dozens of players, hordes of enemies and markers everywhere. The underlying structure is simple once you see it. This guide explains that structure using the store page, TheSixthAxis and LadiesGamers reviews, the Wikipedia summary and the official achievement list, which names many of the objects you will interact with. Buying questions are on the FAQ page.
1 The shape of a run
TheSixthAxis describes an opening window where players roam, fight enemies and open chests and amphorae to level up during the run.
Sigils and blessings that need several players, Unique Elites and Torture Chambers offer extra rewards.
According to TheSixthAxis, these must be completed before facing the boss. Rising Star rewards your first win.
LadiesGamers describes gigantic health pools that make sense with over thirty attackers, plus mechanics like destroying crystals and managing enemy waves.
Wikipedia puts a session at around 25 minutes. Since the store runs you straight into live runs without lobbies, a quick session fits easily into a short break.
2 Weapons: light, heavy and special
TheSixthAxis explains that each weapon has a basic attack, a heavy attack and a special ability. LadiesGamers adds that heavy strikes break enemy armor and deal burst damage. Weapons and relics are inspired by the sins and virtues, each with its own combat mechanics. TheSixthAxis counted eight weapons across tank, DPS, range and support roles, while Wikipedia describes 14 drawn from the seven deadly sins and the seven heavenly virtues.
| Attack | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Basic | Steady damage against the horde |
| Heavy | Breaking armor and bursting down tough targets |
| Special | The weapon signature ability |
You unlock more weapons over time: First Arms for 2 and Arsenal Adept for 8. Trying several is worth it, because each one also brings a different co-op power.
3 Co-op powers and co-strikes
This is the heart of the cooperation. LadiesGamers explains that each weapon has a cooperative ability that places a marker other players must activate for a group buff or attack, and TheSixthAxis notes that co-strikes alongside other players build damage boosts. The store adds that you can combine powerful effects with your fellow rebels.
4 Group events worth joining
If a crowd has formed around an event far away, a teleport stone from a Bone Shrine is worth using. Also look for the Daily Quest Chest; The Erudite's Favorite rewards obtaining it.
5 Reviving and staying alive
The store says to revive fallen allies and fight together to keep the rebellion alive, and A Body of Dust rewards resurrecting other players three times. With dozens of players around, a downed rebel usually has help nearby, so stay close to groups rather than wandering alone into a dense horde.
6 Permanent progress between runs
Resources you collect in raids unlock permanent soul upgrades, new weapons, relics and powers, according to the store. LadiesGamers says perks and cosmetics also unlock through challenges and objectives. TheSixthAxis describes Feats that need you to perform certain tasks, and an Ordeals system that then drags some of those gains back.
| System | Related achievements |
|---|---|
| Perks and perk slots | Incipit (a slot), Structured Poetry (all slots), Divina Commedia (all perks) |
| Relics | Treasure Hunter (a Relic Token in the Beyond), Collector (all relics) |
| Weapon co-op powers | Mastercraftsman (fully level a co-op power and equip two upgrades) |
| Feats | A Rebel's Journey (complete the Major Feat Rebel Legend) |
TheSixthAxis sums it up as a lot of grinding, so expect progress to come gradually over many runs rather than in big jumps.
7 Your first runs
Forged in Practice rewards finishing all of them, and they teach the basics safely.
Join events others start, answer co-op markers, and learn the boss.
Build toward a style you enjoy before chasing collections.
United We Conquer rewards beating a boss while in a party of up to four.
A run lasts about 25 minutes: roam and level up from chests and amphorae, take on sigils, Unique Elites and Torture Chambers, win Ascension Battles, then beat the boss together. Weapons have basic, heavy and special attacks, and heavy strikes break armor. Each weapon also has a co-op power that others activate, and hitting shared targets builds co-strikes. Revive allies and stay with groups. Between runs, perks, relics, Feats and weapon upgrades accumulate gradually.
