Players coming from modern shooters tend to die repeatedly in their first Gallipoli matches, because the habits that work elsewhere get you killed here. This guide explains the systems that decide fights, drawing on the store page, the Wikipedia summary, TheSixthAxis review and NoobFeed coverage, with the official achievement list used to confirm mechanics. Buying questions are on the FAQ page, and maps, classes and achievements on the maps and classes page.
1 One accurate shot is enough
NoobFeed notes that the most accurate shots put a soldier down immediately, bolt-action rifles are common and automatic weapons are limited. Weapons are also hard to aim on purpose. TheSixthAxis describes a focus mechanic that increases precision while aiming, and weapon handling that is deliberately unwieldy.
2 Suppression and panic
Suppression is how you win fights you cannot win by aiming. TheSixthAxis explains that firing near enemies obscures their vision and increases weapon sway, and sustained suppression pushes them into a panic state that makes them slower. NoobFeed adds that suppression also hurts reload speed and can cause weapon jams. The store ties weapon handling to your mental state.
| When suppressed | What to do |
|---|---|
| Vision blurs and sway rises | Stop trying to win the duel; move to cover first |
| Reloads slow, jams possible | Reload only once the incoming fire stops |
| Panic sets in | You are slower, so do not attempt a long sprint across open ground |
Machine gunners are built for this. The Hell with a Handle achievement asks you to suppress 25 enemies with a light machine gun in one life, which shows how central suppression is to that role. The store also notes that experience improves your ability to reload while suppressed.
3 Stamina and moving under fire
Wikipedia describes a dynamic stamina system that affects sprint speed, and NoobFeed notes that you can sprint while crouched or prone. Plan movement as short dashes between cover rather than one long run, and keep some stamina for the final push onto an objective. Open terrain is the biggest killer on landing beaches and desert maps.
4 Downed is not dead
A hit does not always kill outright. Wikipedia describes a downed state in which teammates can revive you before you bleed out. The Stretcher Bearer class exists to keep wounded soldiers alive, and two achievements reward support play: Coffee for Forty Years for reviving the same teammate three times in one match, and Hippocratic Oath for ending a match with more support score than combat score.
5 Your squad decides your options
Each side has five squads of five players. Wikipedia describes squads with different roles, such as assault squads that lead the charge and support squads that provide medical and ammunition help, and NoobFeed notes that which classes you can pick depends on your squad composition. Join a squad whose role matches what you want to play, and listen to the Officer, who coordinates support for the squad. The Caravan Assembles on the Road, for changing class five times in one match, shows that switching to fill a gap is expected.
6 Beacons and fortifications
TheSixthAxis explains that certain classes can build fortifications such as sandbags, barbed wire and machine gun nests, and place spawn beacons with squad-specific bonus effects. The achievement list confirms how much beacons matter.
A beacon close to the objective shortens every return trip for your squad, and an enemy beacon behind your lines does the same for them. Spotting and removing them is as valuable as a kill.
7 How Expedition momentum works
Maps are divided into sectors, each with a headquarters objective and support objectives. Wikipedia describes momentum as attackers completing objectives quickly while defenders try to delay them. NoobFeed adds that defenders work with limited reinforcements and that secondary objectives can give attackers forward spawns or take resources from defenders. The Haboob achievement, for capturing the HQ before reaching the kill reward in a sector, shows that kills also feed progress, but objectives are faster.
8 Your first matches
The store says bots can be added to custom matches. Learn a map without pressure.
Stay near your squad beacon and your Officer instead of exploring alone.
Proficiency grows with use, so familiarity pays off quickly.
They move momentum and score support points even when your aim is still rough.
One accurate shot can end a fight, so use focus, stay out of the open and reload behind cover. Suppression blurs vision, adds sway, slows reloads and can cause panic, so break contact when pinned and use machine guns to pin others. Downed soldiers can be revived, and support play earns its own achievements. Squads shape your class options, beacons and fortifications decide where fights happen, and in Expedition, objectives move momentum faster than kills.
