I Am Legion Stand and Gear Tips

Separate Stand upgrades from Artifact crafting. Read the recipe, cost and mode before treating a higher rarity or an extra passive as an automatic improvement.

Current reference: Checked 26 October 2026 against the Steam store, version 2.0 announcements and the first-anniversary update. Advice below distinguishes documented mechanics from suggested planning habits.

1. Three Stand upgrades answer different questions

Star levels develop copies of the same Stand. Synthesis combines different Stands into a higher-tier summon. Awakening adds Orange forms to Purple Stands through the awakening system. These mechanics all increase build possibilities, but their material requirements and purpose differ. Choose the next target first, then inspect the recipe instead of assuming that every duplicate should immediately be consumed.

The version 2.0 release announced eleven Orange-rarity Stands and added the Blue Stand Miner and Purple Stand Drill Dig. Use those as dated content facts rather than a claim about the exact size of every present rarity pool. The store currently advertises more than 100 Stands overall. The useful information for a recipe is the current in-game tree, not an inferred count from promotional artwork.

2. Read synthesis targets before feeding materials

The anniversary update changed synthesis-path presentation: once a one-star Stand is unlocked, icons for two-star and higher forms can be shown, while detailed information still requires unlocking the corresponding star level. A visible icon is therefore not the same as a fully revealed entry. If the details are unavailable, do not fill the gap with a recipe guessed from the silhouette.

Version 2.0 improved material hints when multiple Stand Targets need the same material. This makes shared ingredients worth checking before a merge. A useful planning habit is to compare the targets competing for that ingredient and decide which combination you are actually pursuing. The notes support the existence of shared material demand; they do not establish a single best synthesis order for every hero.

3. Awakening needs more than a rarity label

The store says Special Bosses provide Awakening Scrolls and names Helicopter, Skeleton King and Monkey King as examples of transformed summons. The version 2.0 release connects Orange forms with boss drops and quests completed during battle. Use the current objective display to confirm the remaining step rather than treating an Orange Stand as something purchased directly from a universal shop.

The anniversary Recruitment interface shows Awakening Scroll information. This helps connect a potential summon to the resources available in the current attempt. The sources do not specify a universal scroll cost or guarantee persistence across a run reset. Neither a free choice of every Orange form nor a permanent awakened unit should be assumed without checking the game.

4. Artifact forging still includes paid choices

The official Artifact deep dive describes three choices at a forge, with Ore spent to refresh them. Purple Artifacts can unlock synergies, and each Artifact has a synthesis tree with icons. Read the offered pieces in relation to that tree. Paying for another set of choices may help reach a target, but the existence of a refresh button does not guarantee that the next selection contains the missing component.

This corrects a common oversimplification: the new system reduces blind reforging, but does not remove rerolling. Similarly, the store describes a proportional Ore refund for sold gear, without publishing a universal percentage in the material checked here. Use the displayed refund when budgeting. Do not extend that statement into a promise that Gold spent on Devour or every crafting expense is returned.

5. Devour expands effects, with its own cap

Devour spends Gold on crafted Purple Artifacts so their effects and synergies can remain active without using an equipment slot. The version 2.0 release also says Artifact stats can be upgraded and character levels raise the Devour cap. Slot count and Devour capacity are therefore different limits. Empty equipment space alone does not tell you how many additional Purple effects can be consumed.

The first-anniversary update expanded Artifact inventory capacity from 24 to 30. It also changed capped-stat handling: an excess stat such as Penetration converts into other stats after exceeding its maximum. The announcement does not provide a complete conversion table, so check the current detail panel before predicting the value of an extra point. Raw visible numbers from an older build may not describe the current conversion.

6. Recheck named combos after the anniversary patch

Three Dragons received a correction so its Artifact Combo bonus applies to Stand Combos, alongside reductions to the base Boss Damage and Character Combo bonuses. The developers say the combined result is still a buff compared with the previous version. Looking only at the reduced base figures misses the bug fix that changed how the combination works.

Six Paths had its physical-attack and magic-power scaling corrected at higher levels. The same announcement says a revive automatically triggers if none has triggered within 180 seconds of the combo duration. This is a specific rule for that combo, not a universal revive timer for every build. Read its own conditions and the remaining-revives counter when judging survival.

Swordsman, Moon Goddess and Muscle also received combo changes. Because multiple parts moved together, this page does not rank them through an old damage percentage or prescribe an untested strongest team. Compare the present skill text, activated conditions and the damage category of the Stands you actually field.

7. Use mode-specific tools to diagnose a build

The 2.0.1e patch added an Auto-Lock Gear toggle to Classic Mode. If your gear-handling interface differs from an older tutorial, check both the installed patch and mode before deciding a feature is missing. That patch also fixed attack-direction problems for Werewolf and One Punch Master after their skills; an old report of that behaviour may describe a corrected issue.

For Artifact Mode, the anniversary boss and challenge-monster kill counters provide feedback, while the pause interface shows stage difficulty. Compare attempts on similar settings and note whether Adversity Boost was enabled. A changed difficulty or an accumulated assistance bonus can alter the result without proving that a single Artifact is responsible.
