Emissary Zero Beginner Guide

Use current map markers, mission tools and recovery rules without relying on old assumptions.

Start with objectives rather than a fixed route

Emissary Zero asks you to explore, move and maintain resources while working toward finding the Moon. The store describes a large changing location, but that phrase alone does not establish that every new run randomizes every corridor. Use the current mission list and map to orient yourself. The practical aim of a first session is to understand what the present objective needs and where the useful equipment is, rather than to trust a route copied from a different version.

Read the map with its reveal conditions

Update 1.2 added map displays for elevators and save terminals, with conditions that matter when a marker seems absent. An elevator must be operational to appear. A save terminal must have been used at least once in version 1.2.0 or later. A missing icon therefore does not by itself prove that the object does not exist. Check the object and its state before concluding that you took the wrong route. This is particularly useful when returning to an older save after the update.

Use the mission list and dialogue tools

Update 1.3 lets you collapse and expand the mission list and slightly increases text size for interactions, missions and the log. Expand the list when you need to check your next task; collapse it when you want a clearer view. Patch 1.2.9 also scales displayed dialogue as distance changes. These changes provide concrete interface aids. The premise identifies a manager as support, but it does not justify assuming every instruction comes only by radio or that no other information channel exists.

Do not treat every difficulty as a reset run

Nightmare, introduced in 1.3, has no save points and restarts from the beginning when everyone dies. Its revival terminals are single use. Those conditions are a reason to learn objectives on another setting before opting into the extra pressure. Ordinary updates also discuss functioning save terminals and saving restrictions, so it is inaccurate to tell every beginner that any death always erases the whole run. Check the selected difficulty before deciding what a mistake will cost.

Understand recovery before experimenting

Major Update 1.1 changed save terminals so they cannot save immediately after someone dies; the developer explains that the previous behavior could leave the recently dead player unrestored. If a terminal does not let you save immediately, that can be a documented restriction rather than a broken puzzle. In 1.2, a player joining an ongoing ordinary session appears at the last used save terminal. Nightmare later added its own spectator and terminal conditions, so consult the team guide before applying the ordinary joining rule there.

Treat equipment descriptions as starting points

The store describes resource work through finding, moving, repairing, connecting and observing. Use these as prompts for investigation, not as a claim that the game has only five possible actions. Update 1.1 added a way to deal with Orangeheads, and later notes mention a White Liquid Gun interaction and improved shovel aiming. Those official examples make a blanket statement that no tools or countermeasures exist unreliable. Explore current instructions and avoid inventing an enemy solution from its name alone.

Recover a radio and check your version

Update 1.3 allows previously collected radios to be restored at the item restoration machine. If you have already collected a radio and later need one, check that recovery option before assuming the run is blocked. This does not promise that every lost item is recoverable. Other later fixes are similarly specific: 1.2.7 corrected a crystal upgrade issue and 1.3.2 corrected a TV Head getting stuck in some circumstances. Use the installed version and the exact symptom to distinguish a documented old bug from a current objective.
