A practical starting route through stocking, storage, comfortable controls, farming and the first fishing trips.

The game remains in Early Access. This guide covers released features; announced additions can change. Lightning flashes can be turned off in Settings if they feel too intense, as explained in the developer update linked below.

1. Start with a small shop loop

Begin by learning the actions you will repeat: obtain goods, stock a display, serve the shop, and collect more supplies. Ursa supports gathering, growing and trading, while crafting creates additional products. Keep the first layout simple enough that you can find the displays and see what needs attention.

As an editorial starting approach, choose one small improvement for a session: another stocked display, a farming contract or a new collecting route. This keeps the interface manageable while you learn it. The store describes skills improving through tasks, including faster stocking and better berry harvesting, so ordinary work already contributes to skill progression.

2. Find items through the current book menus

The Book of Summoning now has categories and filters for products, decorations and crafting items. Use those filters when you know which kind of purchase you need rather than searching through the whole catalogue. Controller navigation was improved in the same update.

A specific storage convenience becomes available at shop level 10: the Book of Summoning can send summoned items directly to the Bag of Endless Storage. Before that unlock, do not assume every order can bypass physical crates. The Store Crates Without the Wait update adds a way to store a held item crate from anywhere; follow the displayed input prompts for your bindings.

3. Use automatic interaction deliberately

Lets Go and Gather adds Auto Interact. Hold the modifier, which defaults to Left Ctrl on keyboard or LB on controller, and press Interact to toggle automatic harvesting or item placement. Press Interact again to stop it. Aim carefully at a shelf before allowing automatic placement to continue.

Some sensitive interactions are excluded from the automatic mode. This makes it a convenience for repetitive work rather than a way to automate every conversation or world object. If the camera feels different after updating, revisit mouse or joystick sensitivity: the developer revised those settings with the Book of Summoning improvements.

4. Free your hands for gathering

Carry On, Shopkeeper allows most interactions while holding an item, including conversations with a giant turtle, opening doors and using a zipline. Harvesting, tending and gathering still need free hands. If one of those actions seems unavailable, check what you are carrying before assuming the resource is broken.

That update also adds mount recall through the Bell of Recall. It is useful when a mount is left far from home. For navigation and decorating at height, the flight toggle defaults to F; if it does not work, the Flying Over What We Built announcement directs players to the input bindings in Settings.

5. Add farming and crafting when you can support them

The store describes farming contracts that unlock magical crops and Aether-infused variations. Use the available contract descriptions to choose your next farming step. There is no need to invent a best crop or a universal profit ranking when the official material does not supply one.

Crafting is described as placing items and returning the next day for the result. Later updates give more concrete uses for surplus materials: the Buzzy Brewing Bottle combines honey with berries for non-alcoholic drinks, while the Powderwright turns scales into saleable magical powders. Choose a station that uses materials you are actually collecting.

6. Try fishing without selling your favourite catch

Obtain the Wand of Cozy Waters from the Book of Summoning to begin fishing. The release announcement describes more than 50 fish with seasonal and mythic variants. Explore different water locations and pay attention to the current season instead of expecting every catch at a single pond.

Aquariums can hold catches. Use alternate interact to lock or unlock an aquarium and control whether its fish are kept on display or sold. Lock a collection you want to preserve before treating the room as a fish shop. Mirei are documented in ponds, while Feniks are documented in rivers and lakes.

7. Make comfort and recovery part of setup

Lightning can be disabled in Settings if the flashes feel too intense. This is a developer-provided comfort option, so set it before a long session if needed. Automatic forward movement is also available, with the announced default on the middle mouse button and remapping in Options.

The store says progress can be saved without ending the day. If you encounter an existing save issue, the developer points to backup saves in the Save Slots menu and recovery help from the main menu. Familiarise yourself with those menus while the shop is small, rather than discovering them after an interruption.
