1. What is the difference between Campaign and Q Trials?

Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is a single-player survival strategy game from gameXcite and Daedalic Entertainment. In Campaign, you repair and develop Voyager, explore the Delta Quadrant, make story decisions, fight ship battles and assemble away teams. The scenario allows events to diverge from the television journey, including the loss of familiar characters.

Q Trials is a free alternative mode released with Patch 2.1. It has a separate main-menu entry, procedural sectors, selectable captains, run modifiers and permanent unlocks. The store describes it as a faster mode without the Campaign story and Away Missions; Patch 2.1 still allows heroes to undertake point-of-interest events. These are different mission systems, so do not interpret the absence of Campaign Away Missions as the absence of hero assignments.

2. What saves and achievements work in each mode?

Campaign received a manual-save system after launch, alongside autosaves. Manual saves are available in safe areas, and the load interface distinguishes manual saves from autosaves. Custom difficulty also offers Challenge Mode, which disables manual saves and autosaves after every event. Check those rules before choosing a run rather than assuming one save policy applies everywhere.

Q Trials automatically saves after each point of interest and has no manual or sector saves. It provides three profiles with separate progression. Achievements cannot be earned in Q Trials. Its permanent technology progress is saved when jumping into the next sector, which is a different checkpoint from its ordinary event autosave. Completed research and sector transition matter if you are trying to build up future runs.

3. Is Equinox included in the free update?

Q Trials itself is free for owners of the base game. Playing the U.S.S. Equinox and recruiting Rudolph Ransom, Maxwell Burke and Noah Lessing requires the Equinox DLC. The DLC also adds its own ship layout and the Spirits of Good Fortune mission for Equinox in Q Trials. Do not buy a ship add-on merely to gain access to the free Voyager mode.

The Deluxe DLC, Delta Chronicles, Equinox and Expansion Pass are separate purchase entries on Steam. The earlier Deluxe announcement describes additional missions, heroes and technologies. Sector-opening logs by Tuvok and Tom Paris were announced as a feature of the game, recorded with Tim Russ and Robert Duncan McNeill. That announcement provides firmer context than guessing that the store heading makes those logs exclusive to Deluxe.

4. What is available now and what comes on 28 October?

Patch 2.1 and Equinox are already released at this check on 26 October 2026. The patch adds Q Trials and also updates Campaign with ship events, economy changes, clearer point-of-interest rewards and extra Delta Flyer options. Delta Chronicles 2 is announced for 28 October, so its additional missions, heroes and Q audio logs should still be treated as upcoming today.

The Delta Flyer was introduced earlier in Update 1.7. It is built in a level-3 Shuttlebay, is limited to one, and can act as a combat ally without splitting rewards. Its introduction quest involves Tom Paris in sector 7. These are base-update features; the new playable Equinox in Q Trials is a different purchase and a different ship role.

5. What should PC players check before buying?

The US base-game list price is USD 34.99 at this check; discounts and bundles vary. Steam lists Windows support, 16 GB RAM and 11 GB storage at minimum. The minimum graphics tier names a GTX 1060 6 GB or RX 580 8 GB, with DirectX 12. Compare the complete official requirements with your hardware rather than inferring comfortable performance from the minimum alone.

Eight interface languages are listed: English, French, German, Spanish from Spain, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. The language table marks full audio for English and German, while Japanese has interface and subtitle support. Steam Cloud and a downloadable demo are listed. Use the demo and current settings to assess readability and controls, while keeping its scope separate from the full Campaign and Q Trials.
