Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road is published by Raw Fury and developed by Ludogram. It mixes a survivors style action game with tower defence: a hero runs around gathering resources and fighting, while a city that never stops moving carries your defences toward a safe haven called the Ark. This page covers the common questions. For how to build and defend, see the beginner guide, and for town halls, roads and achievements, see the progression guide.
1 What kind of game is it
The store calls it a tower survivor rogue-lite. You choose a town hall, attach defensive buildings to it, and protect it as it rolls south through hordes of monsters. Your hero attacks automatically, harvests the world for materials and fights off anything that threatens the city. LadiesGamers describes the city growing from a humble block on wheels into an absurd stack of mismatched districts.
2 When does a run end
Only when the city is destroyed. The store is explicit that the hero falling is not game over, and reviewers describe the hero respawning. That makes the city the real character and the hero a tool you are allowed to spend.
3 What the resources do
| Resource | Use (store description) |
|---|---|
| Wood | Keeps the engines burning and raises tower efficiency |
| Stone | Repairs and rebuilds |
| Gold | Expands the moving fortress |
LadiesGamers also mentions crystals dropped by defeated enemies being used to upgrade the city. Because all three materials do different jobs, a run tends to go wrong when one of them is ignored, not when the total is low.
4 Shelters and the city shop
Along the road, the city reaches shelters. The store describes buying new districts from the city shop there and choosing where to place them. CGMagazine counts three shelters per road and adds that they offer minigames and healing. The store also mentions hidden secrets in shelters and side hordes that give rarer rewards, as long as the hero gets back to the city in time.
5 What carries over between runs
Compasses. You collect them at the end of each run, and the store describes them as paying your attempts forward. Reviewers explain that they buy permanent upgrades for the city and the hero, such as stronger towers, tougher walls and better attacks. One achievement asks you to buy 120 meta upgrades, which gives a sense of how deep that layer goes. New town halls, buildings, weapons, relics and heroes also unlock over time.
6 How much content is there
The achievement list names four roads (Elderwood, Ice, Sands and Ashes), four difficulty modes (Normal, Hard, Expert and Nightmare), a set of challenges, and more than a dozen town halls to take to the Ark. CGMagazine counted ten town halls in its review, and the achievement list now includes more than that, which suggests additions since launch. The store lists two DLC.

Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road is a tower survivor roguelite at a list price of USD 8.99, where a hero gathers wood, stone and gold while a moving city carries your defences toward the Ark. A run ends only when the city falls, though hero deaths leave gravestones that take up space. Shelters sell new districts, and compasses from each run buy permanent upgrades. Expect four roads, four difficulties, many town halls and challenges, and note the 16 GB memory requirement.
